9 Squares Assignment
For this project, find a subject then find some locations that have a deep background and lots of light. You will shoot at least 9 pictures of your subject in various poses and arrange them in a 9 square gallery as seen below.
In this exercise we take pictures from a variety of angles and focal lengths (some close-ups, medium shots, etc.). Typically, headshots are bust and up- meaning the bottom of the frame cuts across the chest of the model and includes the whole head as in the examples below. The background is something to consider, the deeper the background or the less details in it the more effective the portrait because nothing draws attention away from the subject.
