External Hard Drive: All students are required to have their own external Hard Drive to save their work to. Not all external Hard Drives are the same and it is important to make sure you have the correct one for media production. I recommend one that has a USB-C connector. Solid State Drive (SSD) are also faster and more secure because there is no physical disc. SSDs are more expensive when you compare the storage capacity, but they are faster. Flash-drives or thumb-drives will not have the speed or space that you will need so make sure you invest in an external hard drive, you will need it for your future classes.
When you buy an external hard drive it is important to make sure that it is formatted properly for your computer. Click here for Keith to teach you how to do that.
SD Cards: Students are required to purchase an SD card. You are more than welcome to use our camera kits however something they do not come with is an SD card. You will need this in order to take pictures and video.
Cameras Students are not required to have their own camera, but it would be a good investment to have your own. We have Lumix FZ300 cameras that will be available for students to sign-out for this CM102. Click here for a video about that Camera. Software In this class, we will be using software from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. The computer labs and editing rooms have all of the software loaded on them that will be needed for the class. Students will have access to the labs and classrooms around the clock. Students that would like to work on projects outside of the Martire building are encouraged to purchase the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite on their own. Adobe offers a student discount.
The Martire Equipment Room will open on Monday, February 8, 2021. The hours of operation will be:
